RUFFLED: Stormers

They say watching the Stormers’ Super Rugby quarter-final on Saturday against the Chiefs at Newlands will leave them broke, and all this just before month-end.

Ticket prices in category 1 for the play-off clash have increased from R140 for a regular season match to R395 - a whopping increase of R255.

Some local rugby supporters say they will now rather watch the game on television.

“I’m going to get my friends together and crash at someone’s house to watch the match. This is ridiculous,” says Ebie Sampson from Mitchells Plain.

Greg Simmons from Milnerton says he will be heading to a sports café.

“At least I will be warm, and I can spend that money on a couple of beers,” he reckons.

They say mense should have been told that the WP Rugby Union were going to increase prices for the knockout stages of the competition.

But WP Rugby chief executive Paul Zacks told the Cape Argus prices have not increased.

“No, the tickets have not increased because we were told the prices of all categories must remain the same as they were in 2016,” Zacks said.

However, by last night, prices on www.thestormers.com as well as Computicket’s website remained at the new inflated price.
