SCENE: Baby's body being wrapped before being moved
A concealment of birth case has opened at the Somerset West police station after the body of a newborn baby was found dumped near Sir Lowry’s Pass on Sunday.

Western Cape Department of Social Development spokesperson Sihle Ngobese said they are assisting the police in the investigation after residents of Rasta Park found the body and alerted authorities.

Ngobese said: “DSD strongly condemns any action which places the lives of babies and children at risk. There is no excuse for the dumping and abandoning of babies and children.”

He urged pregnant women at risk to contact the department for assistance.
