A Christian school in Joburg which insulted Muslims has apologised, but the Muslim community there said it’s not enough.
A sit-down has now been planned between representatives of The King’s School, in Linbro Park, Sandton, and members of the Muslim community in the area.
Last week Bob Fuller, head of student affairs at the larney private school, compared Christianity and Islam and made what were considered to be derogatory remarks about Muslims.
He wrote: “Muslims pray at prescribed times according to a set ritual in the hope they will be heard, while Christians can pray anywhere at any time in any words we may choose, with the assurance that every word is heard because of our personal relationship with God.”
Though Fuller and the school apologised on Friday, the Muslim community, who has spoken out on social media, say it’s too late to say sorry.
Yusuf Abramjee, former Crime Line head, said he, along with community leaders, intends to meet with Fuller and other school representatives to “educate them about other religions”.
Gauteng Department of Education’s acting spokesperson, Oupa Bodibe, said they view the matter in a serious light and condemn it.
