Brackenfell police have been searching for Mercia Flink, 27, her three-year-old daughter Runique Flink and her eight-year-old stepson, Gabrienne Ruiters, since 4 July but only released a missing person’s statement on Monday.
The three left their home in Groenland Farm in Bottelary Road early on a cold Tuesday morning.
The young mother apparently told her partner, and the children’s father, she was going to the local clinic but she never returned home. The unnamed man reported their disappearance to police the same day.
Early on Tuesday morning, cops confirmed that little Gabrienne was found unharmed late on Monday night.
“Gabrienne Ruiters, eight years old, was found by police on Monday night and reunited with his foster parents,” police spokesperson, Noloyiso Rwexana, said.
REUNITE: Gabrienne Ruiters
It is not clear who the foster parents are.
A few hours later, she released another statement confirming Mercia and Runique have also been found safe and unharmed - 26km away in Klapmuts.
“The mother Mercia Flink and her three-year-old girl Runique Flink, were found by police on Tuesday morning in Klapmuts. Both were unharmed,” Rwexana said.
Details of their discovery have not been released.
