A Bonteheuwel man was shot dead while walking home from the shop.
Abduraghmaan Williams was killed a week before his 24th birthday.
His mother Soraya Williams, 54, says he had gone to buy chips and was shot near his Camellia Street home on Monday night.
It’s believed he was ambushed by three men “who pumped 13 bullets” into him.
Yesterday the grieving mother told the Daily Voice she called for her son when she heard the gunshots.
“He went to the shop to buy electricity but he left again and said he was going to buy chips for us,” she says.
“He was away for a while because he went to play pool. After his younger brother come in I went to bed then I heard gunshots.
“I shouted “Abduraghmaan where are you?!”
“Then someone came to the house and told me he was shot,” she says.
Soraya says she did not have the heart to go and see her son’s lifeless body in the street.
The crying mom added: “I can only pray for the people who did this to him.”
Soraya could not say if her son belonged to a gang or what the motive for the shooting might be.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Andre Traut says the matter is under investigation.
“At 9.20pm a 23-year-old man was shot and killed by an unknown suspect who is yet to be arrested.”
Abduraghmaan was buried according to Muslim rites yesterday.
