The mother of slain three-year-old Courtney Pieters, Juanita, says she is hurt and angry at an audio recording that is being circulated on social media, apparently by a neighbourhood watch member who viewed CCTV footage of the killer dumping Courtney’s body.
Courtney's body was found on Saturday afternoon in Bofors Circle, Epping Industria.
The female voice claims that the parents also viewed the footage at Elsies River Police Station on Sunday.
She explains that she saw the suspect walking with a shopping bag in which he was carrying Courtney’s body before dumping the body and covering it with branches on a field.
The woman claims all of the child’s bones had been broken to fit into bag.
To this Juanita, 42, says: “People need to stop spreading lies and telling stories. My child’s bones were not broken. We are still waiting on the post-mortem.”
Police confirmed on Monday morning that a man had been arrested on Sunday night in Elsies River, one street away from the girl’s Pluto Street home.
The 40-year-old suspect is expected to appear in the Goodwood Magistrates’ Court on a charge of murder.
