The case against three men accused of murdering Strandfontein resident Chad Baron will finally be heading to trial.
Ricardo Jackson, 29, Romario Jenniker, 24, and Warren Challen, 22, made an appearance at the Mitchells Plain Magistrates’ Court yesterday, a year after the murder.
The trio faces charges of murder, burglary, kidnapping and car theft related to the killing of 26-year-old Chad on June 8, 2015.
The young man was hijacked while on his way to a party and was later found with multiple stab wounds in an abandoned building in Camp Road, Strandfontein.
Chad died a few weeks later in Groote Schuur hospital.
Challen together with Jackson abandoned their bail application last year.
Yesterday, they heard they were closer to their trial after a date was set aside to decide on a regional court date.
The men are expected to be back in court on July 27.
The trial will take place at the Mitchells Plain Regional Court.
The State is yet to indicate whether the men will be pleading guilty or not guilty to the charges.
