An 18-year-old man, who was shot and killed in the street on Friday, was supposed to start his new job today.
Police say Craig Toerien, 18, was killed on the corner of Eon and Melody Street, Scottsdene, in Kraaifontein on Friday morning.
He was shot through the head.
Another man who was with Craig at the time was injured.
His heartbroken dad, Jonathan Toerien, came to identify Craig’s body on the scene.
He claims it was Craig’s “own cousins” who killed him, but did not identify them.
Jonathan says: “We need a police station and security cameras in our area, it’s getting too dangerous.”
The dad says Craig was excited about his new job.
“He wanted to get away from home, and off the streets. His girlfriend was also relieved about the new job.”
