Police have confirmed that they are investigating the alleged abduction of a 16-year-old girl in Ceres who was allegedly snatched by two men in a white minibus more than a week ago.
This is the second case of abduction reported since social media posts about kidnappers targeting school children in areas such as Worcester, Wellington, Strand, Somerset West, Hermanus and Stanford started doing the rounds few weeks ago.
According to reports, the teen was taken on May 31 by two men, estimated to be in their early 30s, in a white minibus.
The Worcester Standard reports that the girl was walking alone when she was abducted by the two men.
The girl was allegedly dropped off again the next morning but she seemed “calm and unemotional”, according to police.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel André Traut confirms that the Ceres police are investigating a case of abduction.
“The circumstances around the case are being investigated at this stage,” he says.
Strand Police are also investigating a case of abduction after 10-year-old Nadine Thomas managed to flee from a blonde woman who allegedly tried to snatch her outside Rusthof Primary School two weeks ago.
