Khayelitsha is home to South Africa’s latest millionaire.
According to Lotto company Ithuba, the winner of the R30 million Lotto jackpot resides in the Cape township.
Although the winner’s identity has not been made public, Ithuba says the winning Lotto ticket was bought 10 days ago at Shoprite at the Khayelitsha Shopping Centre.
“The ticket has been verified and the winner has claimed their |winnings,” said Ithuba spokesperson Zuki Nomnganga.
Last week’s draw saw a R3.6m Lotto Plus rollover jackpot won by a player from Hadison Park in Kimberley, Northern Cape.
That winner has also come forward to claim their prize.
“More was at stake for lottery players as Ithuba also launched the modified Lotto and Lotto Plus games which underwent exciting enhancements on May 22, 2016,” Nomnganga said.
“As part of the enhancements there will be more money in the jackpots on Lotto. |Benefits for the players include a guaranteed fixed prize payout of R50 for matching three numbers in the Lotto game.”
Lotto has already produced 33 millionaires and 41 jackpot winners, while Lotto Plus has produced six millionaires and 45 jackpot winners since Ithuba took over the running of the lottery in June last year.
