Franziska Blöchliger, 16, was raped and murdered in Tokai Forest.

On Tuesday, Howard Oliver’s previous Legal Aid lawyer Ken Klopper withdrew himself from the matter, after his client gave him conflicting versions of his story.

Klopper said he felt ethically obliged to withdraw.

Yesterday, Oliver’s new counsel, Henk Carstens, was given three weeks to familiarise himself with the case.

Oliver has admitted to robbing the 16-year-old while she was jogging in Tokai Forest on 7 March last year.

He claims he did not rape or kill her, and only stole her ring and iPhone in the forest, after smoking mandrax.

The meisie had gone for a jog with her mom, who was walking their dog.

She wandered away from her mom and later, when she did not reply to her cellphone, the woman started to worry and called for help.

Yvonne Elgar, a nurse walking her dogs in the bos that day, found the teen’s body.

Jerome Moses and Daniel Easter have already been fined R5 000 or 12 months’ imprisonment, suspended for five years, for buying Franziska’s stolen phone.

The matter is back in court on 6 June.
