Brazen armed robbers struck at a well-known jewellery store at a Mitchells Plain mall yesterday.
Five hammer-wielding robbers stormed the Sterns store in Liberty Promenade Mall just after 11am.
The suspects, disguised in black balaclavas, broke glass cases and stole diamond and ruby jewellery.
Witnesses say the men fled the scene in an unmarked vehicle.
No one could say what model or make the car was.
Police spokeswoman, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, said yesterday the suspects were still at large.
“A business robbery case has been opened at Mitchells Plain SAPS after an incident was reported to have taken place at a shopping mall in Mitchells Plain [yesterday] at 11.45am.
