The bail bid of two men accused of killing Sinoxolo Mafevuka has stalled once again, and has now entered into its third month.
This after proceedings were halted at the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ Court yesterday morning when the cases’ investigating officer, Constable Butiki Tshabalala had to leave for another matter.
The officer had been in court earlier, but left minutes after the defence lawyer, Thabo Nogemane arrived.
Nogemane insisted he had informed the court he had other cases to handle the morning.
The bail bid for the two cousins accused of raping and murdering 19-year-old Sinoxolo has been going on since April.
The men, aged 22 and 26, were arrested weeks after the teen’s naked body was found in a communal toilet near her home at the SST information settlement near Town Two in Khayelitsha in March.
The bail application is expected to resume on June 23.
