Edwina Presence, 37, left her home on Saturday morning to do shopping and vanished for two days.
After a nightmare taxi ride in which she was attacked by four men and two women, she was ditched by the side of the road.
Two female good Samaritans helped her to safety.
The mother of five was found in Paarl Hospital on Monday.
She was discharged on Tuesday after being treated for internal bleeding in her stomach and chest and bruising to her upper thighs and hips.
Edwina, who is recovering at home after her traumatic ordeal, explains: “Just after 3pm, I got a taxi that would take me to 12th Avenue [near her home].
“When we got to my stop, the driver sped up. There were four men including the driver and two women. I screamed and demanded to get out, moving towards the door, but they started hitting me.
“I fought back as hard as I could, but they choked me till I passed out.”
When she regained consciousness, they had already gone through her handbag and groceries.
One of the men demanded her bank card, she refused and the three men started beating her up again.
“I fought back and they threatened me until I gave up my bank card. By then I was in terrible pain. My back, legs, stomach and chest felt like jelly from being kicked and beaten.
“They stopped at an ATM and one of the women got out and withdrew R1000.
“I was so angry and fought with them again. My husband Quinton works hard for our family and I am currently unemployed, so that was all the money we had,” she says.
Edwina’s captors assaulted her repeatedly, the last time they choked her she believes God stepped in.
“A calm came over me, and I decided to play dead. We drove for hours and they really thought I was dead. I prayed to God for strength.
“They threw me out of the van and drove off. I lay in the bush for a long time until it became light and then I moved.
“I was determined not to die, but so afraid. I ignored the pain and just walked,” she says.
A female driver pulled up alongside her and offered to take her to Paarl.
A road sign indicated she was in Slangrivier, almost in Worcester.
The woman dropped me at a shop, gave her a jacket and money for entjies.
Edwina continued to walk, until another woman escorted her to the police station.
Cops then notified her frantic family that she had been found.
Quinton is grateful to the Daily Voice and all roleplayers who helped his wife return.
“I feel so much better knowing my wife is safe and home with us. She almost died, but she's a fighter and I want to thank everyone who helped her. My family is whole again,” he says.
Edwina says her two heroes are the duo who helped her.
“I don’t even know the first lady’s name, I was in too much of a state to even ask. The other lady is from Paarl and will be visiting me soon. I don’t know where I would be if it was not for their assistance. Thank you, ladies, and thank you Daily Voice.”
Police are investigating a case of kidnapping and attempted murder.
Edwina says she will never forget her attackers’ faces.
“I will know them when I see them. I am coming for my justice,” she warns.
