The woman is expected to take the stand as a hostile witness in the Western Cape High Court today after her son’s lawyer Advocate Mohamed Sibda subpoenaed her.
Wilson again took the stand in his own defence.
He said: “ Lekita se dood pla my, dit maak my binne in seer.
“Something is telling me that I need to just tell the truth about her death.”
Wilson, 20, is being tried for 15 charges including six counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder, rape and assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm.
He is accused of raping and killing 18-year-old Lekita Moore from Valhalla Park, but claims it was his friend, Xavier Bester, and who murdered the meisie.
Lekita’s mutilated body was found on a field in Tuna Road in September last year.
According to Wilson, Bester killed Lekita after she threatened to lay a charge against him when he allegedly assaulted her at a karaoke earlier that evening.
Wilson testified that he could just stand in shock as he watched the girl being killed.
Bester was shot dead hours later on the same field where Lekita’s body was found.
Judge Chantal Fortuin yesterday asked Wilson to clarify a few things for her.
“Were you and Lekita in a relationship, as it was put to the court that you were an item,” she asked.
“No, just friends,” Wilson replied.
“Was Lekita Xavier’s girlfriend?” Fortuin asked.
“No, she wasn’t his girlfriend,” stated Wilson.
Wilson appeared uneasy as Judge Fortuin probed deeper.
“When you and Xavier left the scene of Lekita, you said he washed his hands at a nearby tap. What then happened to the knife he had?”
Wilson said he didn’t know.
“Did you know Lekita was in love with you?” Fortuin asked, to which he replied: “No, I didn’t know about that.”
Wilson on Monday claimed that after Lekita’s murder, he ran home, got into bed with his girlfriend, and fell asleep.
The trial resumes today.
