Staff also accused an elderly patient of selling her diabetic medicine to druggies.
An angry Elizabeth Capes says the condition of the clinic is disgusting and claims elderly patients are ill-treated by rude staff who take long tea breaks while security guards take naps.
Elizabeth says when taking her mom, Emily Viljoen, to get her medication at the clinic last week, she was disgusted by the onbeskofte staff and vuil toilets.
She took pictures inside the clinic where she also saw a medicine cart unattended and a security guard snoring during his shift.

“There is no other place for elderly people in this area to go to and I was shocked to see how the staff treat the patients. They are rude and just take tea time when they want to and stay away for as long as they want,” says Elizabeth.
“My mom is 65 years old and suffers from asthma. The toilets are dirty and security guards are asleep. Something needs to be done.”
Diabetic patient, Wendy Lee, says she got a skrik a few weeks ago when the staff accused her of selling her insulin to drug addicts.
“The doctor told me if I needed to get a new script, I must come back; then this lady at the pharmacy tells me I am selling my stuff to the druggies,” she says.
“ Hulle is baie onbeskof, it’s not a new story.”
DISGUST: Vuil toilets
Mayco Member for Social Services, JP Smith, says the City only became aware of Elizabeth’s complaint on Monday.
He says the toilets are cleaned regularly and the picture may have been taken after a client used it.
“The person who is alleged to be sleeping is a security guard and not a City clinic staff member. This matter will be referred to the company responsible for appointing security guards at the clinic,” he says.
Regarding the medication left unattended, Smith says, medication is kept in a secure environment at the clinic and is administered to clients by pharmacists.

“The pharmacy is currently being renovated and pharmacy staff endeavour to ensure that confidentiality and continuity of services is not compromised in any way.”
He says the concerns have been discussed with the sister-in-charge and will be brought to the attention of the staff for further action.
“Staff tea and lunch times are staggered and, as a result, it may appear as if they are in the staff room at all times.”
