The Vlamboom Street property is a City-owned rental unit where Basier Byron Johannisen, 23, was murdered earlier this month.
Johannissen was shot and killed by two unknown gunmen on Wednesday 28 June while allegedly buying dagga at the house.
On Tuesday, Bishop Lavis police arrested a 33-year-old man in the house during a raid.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Leon Fortuin, says the man was found with 91 stoppe dagga, seven dagga cigarettes, 10 mandrax tablets and five sachets containing white crystals, presumably tik, with an estimated street value of R1 000.
A resident, who asked not to be named, says the house is also known as a location where gangs store their guns and ammunition.
“We all know the people come and buy drugs there, but there are also a lot of guns. The gangsters are in and out at that house and all the stuff going on there is making the whole road unsafe.
In the past month two people have died in Vlamboom after a shooting and we are all very worried and scared.”
On Saturday 8 July, Hassiem Khan, 40, was shot and killed in Vlamboom Street while returning home after a date with his girlfriend.
Ward Councillor Angus McKenzie says he will now request a formal report from police on the drug bust and this will be handed to the Bonteheuwel rental office.
“The report must go to the rental office as we cannot allow criminals to take up space in City rental stock. The City cannot just evict people, we need to gather information first,” he says.
