This is the message Mitchells Plain police are sending out to the community who park along isolated roads on Baden Powell Road between Mnandi Beach, Wolfgat Nature Reserve, Baden Powell beach strip and Strandfontein Pavilion.
Mitchells Plain police spokesperson Captain Ian Williams says last week cops were alerted to a hijacking and are now warning the public.
He says a man, who had been loading seawater into the boot of his vehicle, was approached by two armed men at Mnandi Beach parking area on 3 April.
The man attempted to flee in his blue VW Golf, but was confronted by two suspects.
Williams adds the man was lucky to escape with his life: “Mitchells Plain police attended a complaint of a carjacking at Mnandi Beach, Rocklands,” he explains.
“One of the men carried an object that looked like a firearm.
“They forced the complainant out of the car before driving off in his vehicle.
“The car is a blue VW Golf with registration CF 124 568.
“No shots were fired and no one was injured.”
Williams warns people not to park in isolated beach areas especially along Baden Powell beach strip, which includes Mnandi Beach, Wolfgat Nature Reserve, Blue Waters and Strandfontein Pavilion, especially late at night or during early morning hours.
