The 15-year-old boy, who was walking to a nearby shop when the shooting happened, was hit in the leg by a stray bullet. The boy was rushed to hospital.
A source says members of the Mongrels and the Fast Guns gangs are behind the shooting.
Earlier, a 26-year-old man, believed to be a member of the Fast Guns gang, was shot in his left arm.
Police spokesperson Sinathi Joni says the 26-year-old was shot in Shepherd Court at 6.20pm.
Joni also confirms the shooting of the teen which he says occurred at 7.05pm in Ashley Crescent.
Gang shootings in Lavender Hill have come under the spotlight in recent weeks following the closure of four schools and a clinic in the area.
Parents and teachers shut down the schools in a desperate bid for government to intervene.
A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, says residents fear leaving their homes.
“People are very scared and they shoot every day. You never know when they are going to start again.”
The resident says an open field in Depsiton Crescent, which is located between the “territories” of the two gangs involved in the shootings, has become a battlefield.
“Nobody plays sports there anymore and we need sports to keep our children off the streets. It is now a battlefield for gangsters.”
He says Steenberg cops are investigating two attempted murder cases and there were no arrests.
