Philippi East police arrested the seven suspects for house robbery and being in possession of stolen property on Sunday morning.
The suspects - six males and one female between the ages of 15 and 21 years - appeared in the Athlone Magistrate's Court on Monday.
They were caught after the car - a red VW Polo - they allegedly stole became stuck between two shacks following a police car chase.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk says: “SAPS members received a complaint of house robbery where the complainant reported that suspects broke the door open at Nondlwana Street, Lower Cross Roads and pointed a firearm at him.
They took his car, a red VW Polo, two cellular telephones and two laptops, and fled.
“Police spotted the vehicle in Symphony Way and gave chase. The vehicle came to a stop when it was stuck between the shacks. Seven occupants, all from Lower Cross Roads, were found in the vehicle and arrested.
“One firearm with no serial number was found next to the driver's seat, three silver pangas and nine cellular phones in their possessions.”
