A bag of clothing, tinned foods or even a R50 donation is all you need to get you in at the door at the Bag it for Love concert, at the City Hall on 18 July at 8pm.
However, Tasneem Williams, of Mountview near Hanover Park, actually turns 30 on 27 July.
But instead of having a huge bash for herself, Tasneem decided to put on a show with local artists including Saalim Ismail, Joshua, Just Acoustic, Wahieb Davids, Adeeb Jacobs, Talitha, Che-V, Spycho, Milo and herself.
Proceeds and donations collected will be handed out to homeless mense, homes and those in need.
Tasneem was inspired to do the concert last year when she was part of a Western Cape Government programme during the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children.
The project entailed singing in Kalksteenfontein, and Tasneem came face to face with the harsh reality of life on the Cape Flats.
“We were singing at a park in Kalksteenfontein and there were these children playing without shoes,” she explains.
“We take things for granted so many times, the privileges we have, like having a pair of shoes on our feet.
“That was when I decided I want to give back and thought my birthday would be the perfect opportunity.
“This has always been my dream - event management - and this will be my first one.
“So it can be tinned foods, blankets, bags of clothing or even R50, which will get you through the door.
