Cops at the Nyanga police station were stunned into action on Wednesday night when shots rang out and ran outside to find three dead bodies in a car just blocks away.
Three young men from the area had been gunned down while sitting in a white VW Jetta, just 200m away from the cop shop at about 10.30pm.
The victims, aged 18 to 21 years old, were parked in Ntlangano Crescent in Nyanga and the unknown assailants were gone by the time police officers arrived on the scene just moments later to investigate.
The motive for the shooting is unknown and nobody has come forward with information to police.
It is also not clear if the young men had also been also robbed.
Cops found one of the victims a few metres from the car, one just outside the car and one sitting in the front passenger seat.
All three were already dead.
Police are investigating the brutal murder and have called on the public to assist with information.
Spokesperson for provincial police, Captain FC van Wyk, is urging the public to come forward.
“Three men aged between 18 and 21 were shot and fatally wounded last night at about 10.15pm in Ntlangano Crescent, Nyanga,” he says.
“ According to information, Nyanga police members heard multiple gunshots and went to investigate. They found a white VW Jetta parked in the road and the driver’s door was opened.
“Members found three victims fatally wounded, one victim lying outside the car, another victim was found sitting in the passenger’s side and a third victim was found a few metres away from the vehicle.
“A triple murder case is being investigated. The motive for this fatal shooting incident are yet to be determined and no one has been arrested as yet.”
