The police are investigating a crash that left an elderly pedestrian dead on Monday morning.
Cape Town Traffic spokesperson, Maxine Bezuidenhout, said a man was killed in what appears to have been a hit-and-run incident.
“There was a pedestrian fatality at 9.40am close to the Vasco Boulevard [and] Solly Schmidt intersection. An elderly male was fatally wounded. Goodwood SAPS is investigating,” she says.
A separate crash involving a truck and a car also left an elderly woman dead. The driver of the truck escaped injury.
The woman, believed to be in her 70s, was killed when a truck crashed into her car at the R44 and Anandale Road intersection in Stellenbosch.
ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics arrived to find the car lying on its side against the traffic light.
The body of the elderly woman was found lying partially beneath the overturned vehicle.
