TAKEN: Isuzu double cab in Villiersdorp

Family of slain mom and son fall victim to car thieves

The family of a young boy and his mother who were killed last month have been dealt another blow.

The Villiersdorp family has been left stranded after their bakkie was stolen.

Cecilia Hector, whose grandson Cecil “Tino” September and his mother Christa were beaten to death, allegedly by Christa’s boyfriend Patrick Naphai who then committed suicide, says they made the shocking discovery on Saturday.

“We parked the bakkie near Spar in the Main Road and went to eat something.

“When we came back (at about 1.30pm) I discovered my bakkie was gone. I don’t know what kind of bad luck this is,” says Cecilia.

A short while later, a relative informed them he had seen two men speeding past him in Robertson with the stolen double cab Isuzu bakkie.

This comes a few days after four skelms tried to steal a bakkie in New Crest, just a few metres from where Cecilia usually visits her sister.

A source says it’s possible that it might be the same gang who fled on foot last Thursday, after cops cornered the stolen VW Polo they were travelling in when they tried to steal the bakkie and another car.

Constable Noloyiso Rwexana says a case of car theft is under investigation.

No arrests have been made in connection with either of the incidents yet.
