For the first time, ordinary citizens will get a chance to choose their own Miss South Africa, organisers Sun International say.
Twenty six semifinalists were announced earlier this year, six of them from the Cape.
The pageant takes place at the Sun City Superbowl next year on 26 March. The event will be televised live.
Voting opened on Tuesday and lines will close on Friday, January 13, 2017, at midnight.
“During phase one, the semifinalist who receives the most public votes will automatically become one of the Top 12 Miss South Africa 2017 Finalists,” said the organisers.
The Cape’s semifinalists are Adè van Heerden, Callie-Jo Bouman, Chante Holloway, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, Lou-Marie Taljaard, and Olin-Shae de la Cruz.
You may vote for more than one semifinalist and are allowed a maximum of 50 votes per girl.
“The second round of public voting is scheduled to open in February 2017 when the Top 12 Miss SA 2017 Finalists are announced. The public will then be voting for their favourite finalist,” said organisers.
The public’s votes will count for 25 percent of the points.
Miss SA’s prizes include R1million cash.
