Baleka Mbete may be old but she’s definitely not cold.
The stern-faced National Assembly Speaker has found true love in the arms of her “Ben10” — Bloemfontein businessman Nape Khomo.
On Saturday, Mbete tied the knot with fellow ANC cadre Khomo — on her 67th birthday.
The traditional ceremony was held in Mqanduli, Eastern Cape, where the blushing bride’s parents were laid to rest.
About 100 guests, including Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula and husband Charles Nqakula, attended the larney ceremony.
Mbete looked lovely in a peach and silver traditional outfit while Khomo kept it simple with a grey suit.
The couple met five years ago, and Mbete told the Sunday Times that she’d been single for 10 years before that.
The speaker was previously married to Keorapetse Kgositsile for 14 years before divorcing in 1992.
She wouldn’t disclose Khomo’s age to the newspaper, except to say that he is 10 years younger than her, leading to her daughter Nkuli quipping that her mother had found herself a “Ben10”.
