AUSTRALIA are out to make superstar batsman AB de Villiers their bunny in the final T20 at Newlands today (6pm).
AB has been sukkelling with his form in the last two games, scoring 13 and a duck.
And with the world’s top limited-overs batsman short on form and confidence, Oz allrounder Shane Watson says he and his pals have a plan to get AB out early again.
Watson is set to bowl for the first time in the series after recovering from a stomach strain and believes they can land another blow up front to the SA batting line-up.
He says: “AB is a treat to watch in full cry. So we will have to get him out early again.”
But while De Villiers is the target, opening partner Quinton de Kock insists they are out to win the series, which is tied at 1-1 going into the final clash and with the World T20 kick off next week.
The explosive leftie says: “We want to win. A series win against Australia doesn’t come easily, to win against them would be great.
“There is a bigger picture with the World Cup coming up, but we want to finish off well.”
He has shared the opening role with AB this series but says he is happy to bat where the team needs him should he be moved down the order as Hashim Amla provides another option up top.
He says: “I haven’t batted down the order in a while.
“If I were to move I would assess the situation and make sure that the strike-rate is at 100 percent. Normally that is how finishers go about their strategy, if it comes my way I will try and get the job done.”
