Where were you last Monday when the internationally- acclaimed drama Roots premiered on e.tv?
Yoh, as jy laat geslaap het or if you were still trying to sort out the mess all the klappertjies made after Guy Fakwes, then you’d better get your boude on the sofa at 8.30pm for e.tv’s Roots - a hectic miniseries telling the story of an African man sold into slavery in America.
In the 1770s Kunta Kinte is kidnapped from West Africa and sold to a British slave trader.
And look out for a few familiar faces and places; some of the local locations include Mtunzini’s Umlalazi River and the Dlinza Forest, in KwaZulu-Natal.
Among the famous Hollywood faces you will also recognise South African actors Nokuthula Ledwaba (Tshidi from Rhythm City), Mbulelo Grootboom (Killer from Z’bondiwe), and Nandi Nyembe (from Soul City and Yizo Yizo).
On SABC1 you can catch My First, at 6pm, a thrilling docu-reality series about you guessed it, first times.
And for the story behind the story, go to SABC2 at 8.30pm for Leihlo La Sechaba, an investigative journalist programme about corruption, crime and the truth.
