The Voice SA’s Knock-Out rounds are over and Cape Town’s last man standing, Craig Lucas, is through to the final 16 of the TV talent show.
The 24-year-old from Elsies River earned a spot after his powerhouse performance of FUN’s We Are Young.
Unfortunately the rest of the Mother City’s contestants were knocked out during the last four episodes of the Knock-Out rounds.
Among the performers were Al Petersen, 28, from Table View, Kirby Jo, 23, from False Bay, Celeste Schoeman, 28, from Strandfontein and Jean Citto, 24, from Cape Town.
Craig, an Economic and Politics graduate, says he aims to make Cape Town proud in the Live Rounds starting this Sunday.
“Some of South Africa’s biggest artists come from Cape Town – Taliep Petersen, Freshlyground, to name a few,” he says.
“With regards to the show itself, last year’s winner came from Cape Town so many of the other Cape Town contestants this season were incredible.
“The pressure is on and I want to make Cape Town proud and live up to its high standards.
“I feel honoured being able to represent Cape Town on this season of The Voice SA.”
Now that the top 16 finalist are announced, Craig urges Cape Town to get behind him and vote for him in the Live Rounds in June and possibly the Final Round to follow in July.
Craig goes up against fellow contestants Marissa Petzer, 22, Bubbles Mnomiya, 23, Luke Lovemore, 23, Tender Mavundla, 35, Caroline Brüssow, 31, John-James Janse van Rensburg, 18, Josh Ansley, 33, Marco Basson, 23, Fatman, 40, Freddy Lalendle, 23, Zee Gqamana, 23, Samantha Leonard, 24, Lindo Sithole, 22, PJ Pretorius, 26 andAmanda Faku, 23.
In the Live Rounds, Team Kahn and Team Karen will be up first and the special guest acts are the electronic band Goodluck and Connell Cruise.
