Ashur Petersen seems determined to follow in his iconic dad Taliep’s footsteps, and has been very busy establishing himself as a star in his own right.
The Cape Spy team was at The Address in Athlone on Friday night where the pop sensation performed with his band.
The 23-year-old muso is the only son of the late musician and playwright, and it’s clear that the apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree.
Patrons at The Address were treated to a variety of Top 40 hits currently riding the music charts, including hits of Justin Timberlake, Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars and more.
Club manager Andy Heynes sang Ashur’s praises, calling him versatile and flexible.
“He adapts well to all genres and treats the audience to a range of options while entertaining everyone in the room.
“His smooth voice and dance moves get the ladies in quite a twist while the gents enjoy his classy style and stage presence,” says Andy.
Andy adds that Ashur definitely inherited his celebrated father’s entertainment genes.
“It’s amazing how you see Taliep in Ashur.
“He has the same energy on stage that his father had when he performed.
“Ashur is the ultimate entertainer and it’s always a pleasure having him perform here at The Address.
“He knows how to control a crowd and he is a total showpiece as a solo artist.”
After Ashur’s performance, the crowd took to the floor to dance the night away, jamming to the sounds of DJs Justin Vega, Eezy E and Andy who kept the music pumping.
Justin played a set of R&B, Eezy E added a lekker dose of Old School vs New School and Andy ended the jol off with his favourite Old School jol numbers.
