Actor and comedian Siv Ngesi says ballet is harder than boxing and rugby.
The 30-year-old from Cape Town was filming an insert for the show Mancave and posted pictures on social media of him doing ballet.
“It was a crash course in ballet, took about seven hours,” says Siv.
“But it’s been a few days now and my shoulders are still sore, so respect to those dancers.”
Believe it or not, but Siv says he’s always wanted to be a dancer, even when he was in high school playing rugby.
“This was something I always wanted to do. Over the years it’s become more socially acceptable for men to dance. I watched Billy Elliot in London and I was in Strictly Come Dancing,” he says.
The comic is also preparing to be part of the latest season of Tropika Island of Treasure on SABC 3.
“We’ll be shooting in Seychelles, which I always thought was too close to home to be paradise, but now that I’ve been checking it out, it’s just blue crystal waters and great beaches,” he sighs.
Siv is going up against a group of local celebs but the one physical threat to this muscle man is Isidingo heartthrob Maurice Paige.
“Maurice just won a bodybuilding competition, so I think he’ll have the edge,” says Siv.
But he jokes: “I’m darker than him so my muscles will look better on TV.”
Then the macho man adds: “The biggest competition for me is the reflection in the mirror, so bring it on.”
The celebs are paired up with “normal” mense and compete for a grand prize of R1 million, which they share.
Filming starts in October.
