Bobby Nitro took some time out recently to catch up with the goings-on in the local car scene. With winter approaching the season usually slows down considerably, and goes indoors for a show or two.
But never fear, the scene only gets bigger and better while the koppe hunker down in their garages, preparing new and imaginative surprises for the season to come.
Earlier this month, Team Dub Auto Fest (Daf) and Batavia School of Skills hosted their annual car show event, called Cars 4 Kids Charity Show.
Bobby spoke to Joe Klein, of Team Dub Auto Fest, who says: “This took place at Batavia School of Skills. The event is in aid of raising funds towards travelling and educational materials for different technical skills.
“The show was well attended, with over 1 000 people making their way through the gates. We had two cash handovers. Car Wash Spa and Polo 6N Owners also gave a cash donation to Tasneem Stemmet for her baby Natheer. The baby has been diagnosed with a heart condition and needs operations over coming months. Funds were also handed over to the school.
Twelve car clubs and more than 60 show cars entered the show and shine competition. Team Deaf Row Audio hosted the Sound Off.
Car club Toyota Lunatics won their first Car Show event. And Best of Show was Zuheir Mowlana with his Bagged Toyota Quantum, arguably the first of its kind in the Western Cape. Look out in Bobby Nitro in weeks to come for a full feature on this properly slammed yellow van.
Joe adds: “Team Daf and Batavia School would like to extend our most humble and most gracious thank you to each and everyone that helped us making this charity event one huge success. To our sponsors, we want to extend a heart-felt thank you for your commitment to making this event so successful. Thank you to Deaf Row Audio for coordinating the sound-off. You are truly appreciated.”
