#BeatingCancer mom loses battle

CALLED HOME: Aziza, 54

'I still want to go ahead with the show. I now know the pain of losing a loved one to cancer'.

Yazied Abrahams’ mom, Aziza, 54, was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago, then later developed lung cancer and brain cancer towards the end.

She relied on duur medication and special meals to survive.

Yazied, 35, and two of his musician friends, whose moms also suffer from cancer, will be hosting their show called #BeatingCancer later this month.

Yazied, along with Zara Veenendaal and Sean de Vries from Mitchells Plain, have come together to raise funds to cover expenses of medication and hospital bills for their mothers and other cancer patients battling to keep up with the cost of the disease.

A heartsore Yazied said: “I was devastated when I received the news of my mother’s passing.

“She has been experiencing seizures frequently.

“She ended up back in hospital on Monday night because we thought she could be stabilised.”

Yazied says he will go ahead with the benefit concert.

“I still want to go ahead with the show. I now know the pain of losing a loved one to cancer.”

The trio have called on Cape Town artists to join the cause.

The concert will be held on April 30 at Rocklands High School hall in Mitchells Plain.

The concert starts at 5.30pm. Tickets cost R100.
