V+A Minstrels concert rocks Athlone.

These Cape Flats mense were treated to a top class musical line-up at a kwaai variety show organised by the V+A Mintrels to raise much-needed funds for the klopse troupe.

The action took place at the Athlone Civic Centre on Friday night.

Former Idols SA winner Jody Williams mesmerised the audience with her powerful voice and received a standing ovation for her sterling performance.

Other local musicians like Ghakeem Roman, Nur Abrahams, 3Ds, Alen the car guard, Shadley Schroeder and many more had the mense bobbing in their seats as they brought the house down.

The 800 members of the V+A Minstrels will benefit from the funds raised, which troupe leaders said would go towards their costumes and instruments for this year’s competition.

The troupe is preparing to compete in the Super League competition of the Cape Town Minstrels Carnival Association (CTMCA) taking place at Athlone Stadium.
