Stormers boss Robbie Fleck is preparing his team to face a New Zealand team for the first time this year.
And it’s in a Super Rugby quarterfinal against the Chiefs at Newlands this Saturday (7pm).
While both teams finished on the same number of points (51) after the regular season, because of the revamped format of the tournament, the Stormers were never tested against Kiwi sides.
And Fleckie reckons his side would have been more prepared if they had come up against some tough All Blacks opponents earlier in the season.
He tells a NZ radio station: “It is a little bit frustrating because we have a young group of players and we are going through changes in terms of the way we want to play and want to grow as quick as possible.
“Certainly the Kiwi sides have shown they’re the best in the competition, they are changing the way the game is played and their skill level is of the highest quality.
“You want to match yourself against the best throughout the year.”
