Kim’s Louking for a wedding date

Kim Cloete says they can't find the to set a date with her and fiance Loukmaan Adams' busy schedules.

Star couple too busy for troue

Kim Cloete is so busy that she hasn’t found time to set a date for her wedding.

The 37-year old actress and playwright is currently starring in Binnelanders on KykNet and is also a co-presenter of the reality show Verander Dinge.

Singer Loukmaan Adams proposed to Kim at his 40th birthday party in September last year.

But they’ve hardly had a chance to see each other – what with their busy careers – let alone had time to plan their big day.

Kim says: “You must strike while the iron is hot, and right now we’re in such good places in our careers.”

She is based in Johannesburg, while Loukmaan is in the Kaap, although Liewe Heksie in which he has a starring role is moving to Pretoria in a few months’ time.

Kim says: “I joked that we would elope, but that can never happen. Both our families are too traditional.”

The Bonteheuwel meisie has been working with historians and linguists to write a play about the nearly 400-year history of the Cape of Good Hope Castle.

Kim jokes: “Ek het so baie spoke opgegrawe, I have to light mejang stokkies at my house.”

There are 11 people in the cast of Ausi-ama, including a Khoi-speaking actor and another speaking Dutch.

Kim is excited for mense to see the play: “It’s a factual production, in fact there are facts in there I don’t think people even knew about the Castle.”

“There are some songs, but it’s not a musical. It’s a theatre production,” she emphasises.

The play stars Sne Dandala and Edith Plaatjies amongst others, and Kim says: “This is really the biggest thing I’ve done. I’m very proud.”

The production is debuting at the Castle on May 7 at 5.30pm, and entry will be free.

This Kaapse meisie is in love with her life right now, only wishing for one more change.

“Johannesburg would be the perfect place to live if I could move the sea and my whole family here, then I’d be very happy.”
