Cops have spent more than R8m on 11 larney cars for President Jacob Zuma’s wives over the last five years.
In a Parliamentary reply yesterday, Police Minister Nathi Nhleko told DA MP Zakhele Mbhele that the cars were bought in 2013, 2014 and 2016.
These included four Range Rovers, two Land Rover Discoveries, two Audi Q7s and three Audi A6s.
Nhleko said these were bought to “provide comprehensive protection of VIP Spouses”.
Mbhele has slammed the expenses as a waste.
“This amount of money could have funded 116 university students for a year, or 38 students for the course of a three-year degree,” he said.
