The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) says it’s all systems go for the August 3 Municipal Elections.
Chief electoral officer Mosotho Moepya told reporters at the IEC’s Election House in Centurion that with the tightly-contested elections fast approaching, the logistical arrangements were being concluded.
“With just 11 days to go until the first votes are cast in the 2016 municipal elections, the Electoral Commission is pleased to report that all logistical preparations are on track for this highly anticipated elections,” said Moepya.
“We are approximately half way through the printing process and distribution of the approximately 73 million ballot papers that we need in this election.”
Special votes will be cast on 1st and 2nd of August 2016.
Election officials will visit the addresses provided by voters who applied for home visits while those who applied to cast a special vote at the voting stations must do so between 8am and 5pm on Monday, August 1 and Tuesday the 2nd of August.
