Home Affairs official nabbed for fraud
The 33-year-old Durban allegedly help a foreign national obtain a fraudulent passport.

Members of the police’s Commercial Crime unit in Durban arrested a senior Home Affairs official for fraud, police said on Thursday.

Police spokesperson, Captain Simphiwe Mhlongo, said 33-year-old Sibonelo Biyela was arrested for fraud after being suspected of helping a foreign national to obtain a fraudulent South African passport.

He was arrested with his alleged accomplice, Linda Ncube, 31. 

The two suspects appeared in the Durban Specialised Commercial Crime Court on Wednesday and were granted bail of R1 500 each.

Mhlongo said the two suspects are expected to make their second appearance in January 2017.
