Foreign national caught with drug stash worth over R800k.

A suspect was nabbed with heroin worth nearly a million rand at Cape Town International Airport.

Police spokesman Captain FC van Wyk says: “Members of the Airport Police, officials of the Department of Customs, Immigration and Forensic Document officials arrested a foreign national and seized heroin with an estimated street value of R884 100.

“[Last] Friday, at 10.45am, the group of law enforcers were busy with an operation conducting stop-and-search duties at the domestic arrivals of the Cape Town International Airport when they searched a passenger’s luggage. Hidden in a false compartment, officials discovered the drugs.”

Van Wyk says the suspect was arrested, and appeared in the Bellville Magistrates’ Court on Monday on a charge of dealing in drugs.
