Police are investigating a case of attempted murder after a father was shot in his chest while chasing a suspected robber.
The 55-year-old Bishop Lavis man was shot three times in his chest while chasing a man who had allegedly robbed his son.
Eyewitnesses say the brave father ran after the skelm from Bishop Lavis into Matroosfontein where he was shot and wounded. He managed to run into someone’s house to safety.
On Thursday the victim’s son did not want to speak to the media.
However, it’s believed the victim was recovering in hospital and all the bullets were removed.
Police spokesman Lieutenant Colonel André Traut says the suspect has not yet been arrested.
“At 11.40am, a 55-year-old man was shot and wounded in Pearl Road, Matroosfontein, by an unknown suspect who is yet to be arrested,” Traut says.
