Relatives of a man who went missing in June say they have been stressed out by rumours that his body was found in bushes close to his home town.
It has since been established that the skinnerstories were false but this is of little comfort to Alex “Tarka” Alexander’s family who last saw him five months ago in Mount Pleasant outside Hermanus.
Alex’s brother Alfonica Alexander, 32, says they have called all Alex’s friends who also last saw him in June.
“We even called all the prisons but if he was in jail, he would have contacted us by now,” she says.
“We didn’t report him as missing earlier because we thought he was hiding from the police after he was caught with three bullets earlier this year.”
Police spokesperson Constable Noloyiso Rwexana confirms that Alexander, 30, was reported as missing on Friday.
Alexander is slender, approximately 1.7m tall, has brown eyes, a scar across his nose, a tribal tattoo on his right shoulder, a crown on his neck, an angel on his right arm and a Bad Boy tattoo on his stomach.
