A young man was declared dead on the scene after a bike and car smashed into each other.

A man believed to be in his 30s was killed on Wednesday night after a head-on collision between a bike and light motor vehicle on Voortrekker Road in Kensington.

ER24 medics arrived on the scene at 9pm and found a bike and light motor vehicle sat in the middle of the road. The biker, a male in his 30s, was found lying some distance away from his bike.

Witnesses say the driver drove several metres with the bike underneath the car.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring says: “On assessment, paramedics discovered that the man showed no signs of life and had already succumbed to his multiple fatal injuries. Nothing more could be done for the patient and he was declared dead on the scene.”

The occupants of the light motor vehicle, a man and woman, were assessed and found to have escaped injury.
