Francois Louw has only just met some of the new teammates he will be playing with when the Springboks host Ireland at Newlands on Saturday.
But it’s not a problem for the Springbok flanker as he is excited by the new direction the national team is going in.
Flouw, who plays for UK club Bath, joined his teammates in Cape Town yesterday as one of three overseas-based players in the squad, and likes what he is seeing.
He explains: “It’s a new era – obviously we’ll look at the past, things that worked, things that didn’t work, try and build on those and fix things that didn’t work.
“But it is a new era and we want to create something new. It’s a rejuvenated squad, youthful squad which is very exciting.
“I haven’t played with a lot of the guys, I met some of the guys for the first time really.
“[But] those are the kinds of guys that inject an energy and that’s what we need.
“We need a healthy competitive edge, those guys will bring it.
“We want to stamp our authority as a new Bok side going forward, [so] overall it’s a exciting times.”
