A high school girl was allegedly gang-raped in her school’s unisex toilet.
The Grade 10 pupil tells the Daily Voice: “I was in the toilet with my friend and I was keeping the door for her when a boy entered and pushed me aside to talk to her.
“A second boy entered and we always see him sitting outside the school grounds.
“I was trying to get out of the toilet when he pushed me back and began choking me, and I passed out.
“When I woke up I saw my panty and pantyhose were half way down and there was white stuff on my pants.”
The girl says she was afraid to tell her foster mother about the October 12 incident after her attacker threatened her: “I only told them two weeks after it happened… he said he would get his gang to do the same thing he did to me and that he would cut my head off and place it on the school fence.”
Paddy Attwell from the WCED confirms the incident was reported to the principal on October 28, who immediately laid a charge with police.
He says it is not clear how the alleged perpetrators gained entry to the school.
“The reported incident is horrific. The school has access control measures in place, including an intact fence and an inner perimeter fence. Security personnel include a safety volunteer and a security guard paid for by the school,” says Attwell.
Police spokesperson Constable Noloyiso Rwexana confirms a rape case is under investigation and no arrests have been made.
