The quiet suburb of Klipheuwel was left shattered following the brutal rape and murder of a 20-year-old woman on Monday morning.
She had apparently left a local tavern with her boyfriend, who was assaulted and left for dead, before she was dragged into the bushes, raped and stabbed to death by four unknown men.
Ntaoleng Makeng was described as a friendly, outgoing young woman who loved the nightlife.
Her family believe her killers were known to her.
Her eldest sister, Mapaseka Makeng, 28 says: “I am still in shock at what has happened to my sister and that she left this world in this way.
“She was the life in our family and I could not believe it when we received the call at 4am that she had been so viciously killed.
“She was with her boyfriend at a tavern here in Klipheuwel. They tell us that they left there in the early hours of the morning, they were walking through the bush when four men attacked them.
“We don’t know her boyfriend, she was friendly with everyone.
“All we know is that the people must have known her and that one of the four guys were caught,” she says emotionally.
Police spokesperson Andre Traut says the deceased’s body was found next to a river in Klipheuwel, Philadelphia.
“No one has been arrested as yet.”
