Foxes up for the cup
Leicester revved up for Chelsea battle.

Leicester are up and running this season and are looking do some damage.

The Premier League champions shook off a slow start to their campaign to win back-to-back games ahead of their League Cup clash against Chelsea and league visit to Manchester United this weekend.

They won their debut Champions League game 3-0 over Club Brugge last week and followed that up with a 3-0 win at Burnley this weekend.

And tonight, they host the Blues (8.45pm).

Foxes midfielder Danny Drinkwater believes it was important to return from
Europe with a victory.

He says: “It’s big. It was an important game after playing for the first time in the Champions League in midweek and then coming back to the
Premier League.

“We needed to carry on and start where we left off in the Champions League, so we’re more than pleased with the game.

“It was a big test because we’ve been away for the first time with the club.

“It’s new for us so it was important to make sure that we started the game fresh.

“I think we did that.

“The three points were the most important thing and that’s exactly what we got.”

The Foxes saw new £30m-man Islam Slimani announce himself with a brace against the Clarets on Saturday.

And Drinkwater adds: “It was a great performance and he deserved his goals. He’s a player that’s fitted in quite easily. He’s a hard worker and he’s got his reward with his goals.

“He’s good and he works hard. He helps us set up the way we play, so he’s a good addition to the squad.”

Chelsea, meanwhile, need to bounce back from their home defeat to Liverpool.

The Reds dominated Antonio Conte’s manne at Stamford Bridge in a 2-1 win last Friday.

And the Italian,
nicknamed the Beast, apparently slammed his team after the game “accusing his team of being scared of Liverpool”.
