For a good kous

IT'S ON: Daily Voice is handing out socks today.

Like everyone else in South Africa today, the Daily Voice will also be doing its bit for Mandela Day.

Captain Voice Power has been collecting socks for the past few weeks, and today he will be handing it out to some mense who need a little love and warmth this winter.

We will visit three places today, so come and say hi if you’re in the area.

They are the Ihata (Irfa) Shelter in Heideveld, Fifth Street, the Dorothy Zihlangu Shelter in Langa, Settlers, and the St Anne’s Home in Woodstock.

We’ll also make a surprise visit to a shelter in Athlone, as a special thank you to readers in that area who have contributed ’n klomp kouse.

The Daily Voice would like to thank Vangate Mall in Athlone for their warm welcome over the weekend, where kind-hearted shoppers have dug deep to donate not only socks, but also nearly R4 000 in cash, which will be used to purchase socks.

Daily Voice Editor Taariq Halim says: “Thank you to everyone who contributed so generously to this drive. We hope to put smiles on faces and socks on koue voete.”
