Cape Town City tasted the top of the PSL this weekend and now coach Eric Tinkler has warned his team against complacency.
The City Boys spent a couple of hours at the summit of the top flight on Saturday after their 2-1 away win at Chippa United.
And ahead of their clash with Ajax Cape Town’s weekend nemesis
Maritzburg Utd, Tinkler has told his high-flying City to stay grounded.
The former Bafana Bafana midfielder says: “It was important to get a good result against Chippa and it happened to be a good result.
“But now we have another tough game against Maritzburg, who come off a win against Ajax.
“So they are also going to be on a high and confident.
“And I’ve said this time and time again, there are no easy games in the PSL.”
City will be playing at Athlone
Stadium for the first time since they moved as Black Aces to the Cape.
It’s always been a good venue to home sides, with Ajax and Santos players often saying that the wind and the closeness of the fans can intimidate opponents.
But Tinkler is wary that the Cape Flats ground might not be home just yet.
He adds: “We are playing at a new stadium and that shouldn’t really effect us. At least I don’t think it should.
“We need to go there and try to get a positive result against a good Maritzburg team.”
