Ajax Cape Town boss Roger de Sa says fans need to see the bigger picture before calling their campaign a failure.
Last season, the Urban Warriors were on the up, finishing fifth in the PSL and playing in the Nedbank Cup final.
They started this term with a bang, winning the MTN8 by beating Kaizer Chiefs.
But the devastating death of Cecil Lolo hit the club harder than expected.
And while Ajax are struggling to make the cut to defend their title, De Sa feels that the Cape faithful should remember what they have achieved.
The Ikamva side need to win all their games and hope SuperSport United and Chippa United lose all their games.
He tells Kickoff: “I think it has still been a successful season for us, you know. If we win a cup every year with 10 academy players in your 11… no club in the world can achieve this, and we’ve done it. But there is a bigger picture than just that.
“You have to look at how it went for us – the ups and downs we’ve had – like Scottie [Granwald Scott] moving and the passing of Cecil Lolo.
“It was devastating for us and there is no words to describe the effect it had on the team, and it still does.
“Hopefully when we come back next season, we will never forget about Lolo, but then we sort of face it in a better way.
“We need to cement an attitude for next season.”
